Understanding User Roles
Here are the most common roles and what they mean:
-
Administrator – Full control over the entire site. Only assign this to someone you fully trust.
-
Editor – Can publish and manage all content, including other users’ posts.
-
Author – Can write and publish their own posts.
-
Contributor – Can write and submit posts for review, but not publish them.
-
Subscriber – Can only manage their own profile (used mostly for membership or blog-based sites).
Best Practices
-
Avoid assigning Admin access unless absolutely necessary.
-
Stick to Editor or Author roles for most team members.
-
Always remove users who no longer need access to reduce risk.
